"Halfway Between the Equator and the North Pole". "Site of the Forgotten Victory". "Epicenter of the Anti-Rent War". "Birthplace of Jell-O". The distinctions that America's towns give themselves are many and varied. I have collected over 100 town welcome signs that proclaim the municipality's uniqueness, most in New York and New Jersey. I hope to find more now that I am retired.
In addition, there are several pages of old road signs, relics from an earlier era, that have survived replacement over the years. Finally, I have twice participated in the New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge, in 2006 and 2012, in which all of New Jersey's lighthouses are open to the public for climbing. Photos from both years are included.
I hope you will find something interesting among these.
