Finns Point Rear Range
Pennsville
Range lights were constructed in pairs to mark river channels. Ship pilots would line up the beacons of the front and rear range lights to maintain the ship's path in the channel. Deepening of the Delaware River channel rendered the Finns Point lights superfluous and they were deactivated in 1950. The lighthouse has been moved from its original position and is now located in the Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. The third photo shows fall colors surrounding the lighthouse.
Tinicum Rear Range
Paulsboro
Like Finns Point, Tinicum is the rear of two range lights on the Delaware River. Now surrounded by a town sports complex, the lighthouse offers a view of the river, north to Philadelphia, as in the second photo.
